NAVANEETA - The Cream of wisdom

Shah Shivjibhai Devshi

My weekly blog journey went on a move from today

Book Review

This week I'll review book named Navaneeta which I brought from Shri Aurobindo ashram in Pondicherry on my visit to Madras last month.

The book is a joyful journey of 28 tales out of 33 tales of his life events written in Gujarati by the Shah Shivjibhai in 1944 and in 2004 translated by lalubhai.

This book overwhelmed me with the ageless inspiring messages of almost a century ago experiences... as if my elders are speaking with me for creating consciences in me.

The book is divided into three parts : The part I is on Nature and animals that tells about six tales with spiritual messages given by animals like dog, cow, birds, etc. He mentions "How glorious will earth-life grow" if we humans also learn to lose ourselves in our own joy by mastering the art of informing the joyless emotions.

My favorite message of this part is about the play of the seasons in the life of banyan tree (vad), he say to avoid pride in good times and enjoy it with equanimity by sharing it with less fortune as it will help in bearing trouble times with unruffled poise as banyan tree roots able to reach deep down to sustain drama of seasons by providing shade from its beautiful body.

Part II is on Humanity that comprises of 12 tales of his life which drive common consciousness to manifest all movements...He asks to do whatever one like by remembering that their is no soul, no aspiration and nothing to satisfy with petty personal satisfaction that will take you somewhere. In this column he talks about sincere practice, guru's guidance, faith & confidence, etc.

Part III is the most interesting part on sadhana talks about 10 tales of self actualization by mentioning different way to attain siddhi ( a message for life). He remarkably showered light on cycle of life as its circumstances rises and falls with a beautiful story of a businessman. In this phase of book the excitement and emotions moves like stomach bufferflies and craving to read more and more...

I couldn’t put this book down as it had certainly left its mark on me and is one I will be recommending to everyone for learning from others experiences.
